AEPM member banks and operators are to use Nice as the launch pad for the next stage towards the general public being able to use mobile phones as a payment method.

AEPM’s work will be applied on a large scale for the first time with this launch in the town of Nice. The “pre-marketing” of this new payment method will be a dress rehearsal for mobile payment ahead of the general roll-out, which is scheduled for 2011.

EPC (European Payment Council) and GSMA (GSM Association) publish joint draft “TSM Service Management Requirements and Specifications” for public consultation.

This document is partly inspired by AEPM’s work thanks to its partners represented on EPC and GSMA working groups.

The aim of this co-operation between payment service providers and mobile network operators is to enable more than 500 million European consumers to make SEPA payments using their mobile phones.

This co-operation is, to date, the most ambitious project carried out in Europe to build a joint architecture for contactless mobile payments.
