AEPM member banks and operators are to use Nice as the launch pad for the next stage towards the general public being able to use mobile phones as a payment method.
AEPM’s work will be applied on a large scale for the first time with this launch in the town of Nice. The “pre-marketing” of this new payment method will be a dress rehearsal for mobile payment ahead of the general roll-out, which is scheduled for 2011.

EPC (European Payment Council) and GSMA (GSM Association) publish joint draft “TSM Service Management Requirements and Specifications” for public consultation.
This document is partly inspired by AEPM’s work thanks to its partners represented on EPC and GSMA working groups.
The aim of this co-operation between payment service providers and mobile network operators is to enable more than 500 million European consumers to make SEPA payments using their mobile phones.
This co-operation is, to date, the most ambitious project carried out in Europe to build a joint architecture for contactless mobile payments.

AEPM publishes a new version V2.1 of its functional and technical specifications for contactless mobile payment

Version V2.1 has been enriched and included in books 1, 2 and 3:
– New needs, such as a request for user confirmation when deleting a banking application from a mobile phone, automatic closure of banking applications after a certain time, detection when a banking application is deleted from the mobile phone, etc.
– Comments by manufacturers who help draft AEPM specifications.
– Particulars about the “Compagnon” application interface put at the disposal of the payment applications of the virtual payment card.
– Particulars about the interaction between the Cardlet and the Midlet when the Cardlet launches the Midlet during a payment transaction.
– Enrichment of the section on “User Experiences” in order to include all possible exchanges in a target implementation between banks and operators.
Virtual Payment Card has adopted the terminology defined by GlobalPlatform and has adapted the SIM card architecture to the GlobalPlatform specifications.
Book 0 is accompanied by a new brochure, "Payment Application MMI Guidelines and Recommendations", which provides all screen sequences as well as the wording for the Man Machine Interface (MMI) of payments applications on mobile handsets, as well as for the retailer terminal screens.

Banque Populaire has just extended the Payez Mobile field trial to about one hundred additional retailers in Strasbourg and Caen, all of which have been supplied with the necessary equipment.
A new association has been created: Association Européenne Payez Mobile
